SoundOff! is a simple application which allows you to record sounds on a sound capable Macintosh, and to save these sounds as a double-clickable document from the desktop. SoundOff! will only work on a Macintosh running System 7.0 or higher, and which has a sound digitizer (either third party or included with new Macs). You will record your sound with the standard sound recording window, and then you can save the sound where you want. The file itself only takes up a small 7K of space, and can run on limited amounts of RAM. The minimum amount of RAM needed is 100K, which will allow for only about 2 seconds of recording time. Using the Get Info command from the Finder, you can set as much RAM as you would like to the application. The standard 384K will allow about 15 seconds of recording time, and upwards to the 9000K mark will allow you almost 4 minutes of recording time.
